Location: Hewing Hotel

The impact of unaddressed behavioral health conditions on chronic disease and total cost of care is significant. If you’re a health plan or large employer, what can you do about this critical issue? We’re dedicating one unique and interactive evening to finding out.

Every person is unique. Understanding their needs – and acknowledging they are the expert on themselves – is key to engaging people who need care but are not seeking it.

2* insightful keynotes

Dr. Archelle Georgiou – reporter, author and former Chief Medical Officer of UnitedHealthcare – on why people don’t access care and how we can solve for barriers to engagement.

Dr. Omar Manejwala – author, leading expert on addiction medicine and mental health, and Chief Medical Officer of Catasys – on the need to engage people in particular who suffer from chronic pain, as restrictions on prescribing often leave people with chronic pain in withdrawal, forced to seek relief through “doctor shopping” or the use of illicit opioids. He will also cover the bidirectional relationship between pain and mental illness, the trauma often experienced by those with chronic pain, and the fear-avoidance model as a framework for understanding the relationship between fear and beliefs and behaviors that worsen chronic pain.

1* interactive, peer-led discussion

Join Catasys and a select group of medical, operating, financial and HR business leaders to discuss the complexities of engaging people who aren’t accessing care, particularly those with chronic pain, and the opportunities to adopt more integrated approaches to address these issues.
