Introduction: Digital Transformation & Cloud Security

Digital Transformation

The Digital Transformation of the enterprise is top of mind for many business leaders and there by also top priority for CIOs in 2015. This transformation is led by third party platform technologies such as cloud, big data/analytics, mobility and social which every CIO already has a fair amount of good experiences with. The focus now is to leverage these technologies  to transform the organisation for your competitive advantage.

Much of the attention of digital transformation is on successful examples of what organisations have done and on a more general level how advanced the adoption is in the market. But digital transformation is much more of a process and culture change project, supported by IT, reaching across the organisation and impacting more broadly both IT and the lines of business. This is the “transformative” element of the project which is new and what we will discuss during dinner.

Cloud Security

Security is not just a concern for CIOs and Chief Security oOfficers. In 2014 a host of high-profile corporate and personal breaches embarrassed their victims, cancelled Hollywood film releases and cost members of the C-suite their jobs, truly bringing the importance of information security to an executive level.

This roundtable debate will be a frank discussion between CIOs and business technology leaders about security in the cloud, and if an organisation’s in-house capability can trump the security expertise of external SaaS suppliers. We will also be discussing the threat of Shadow IT to an organisation and the balance between empowerment an lockdown on every end-user – from latest intern to senior boardroom executives.

We will cover the following discussion points during the dinner:

  • Collaboration: How digital transformation impacts the culture of the organisation and the way we connect, share, communicate with employees, customers and partners.
  • Security: How digital transformation requires security to evolve. As digital transformation is driven by data collection, sharing and analytics, the security and governance processes need to evolve to enable the organisation to take full advantage of digital transformation and do it safely.
  • Cloud: How digital transformation drives new requirements for performance and agility of infrastructure. Cloud services are becoming a central part of an agile IT infrastructure to satisfy user expectations. The implications (security, economic models, regulation…) of using cloud services needs to be addressed.
